The weather here has been on a wild ride. One day warm and the next snowy. We had snow all day yesterday. Despite being at work today, I feel the urge to step outside and reconnect with Mother Nature. There's something about feeling her strength, beauty, and wonder that rejuvenates the spirit. Lately, I've been drawn back to the practice of walking meditation. I can't help but reminisce about our deep conversations.
Today, I'm guided by a quote that resonates deeply with me:
"The Earth is our mother. When we are away from Mother Nature for too long, we get sick. Each step we take in walking meditation allows us to touch our mother, so that we can get well again. A lot of harm has been done to Mother Earth, so now is the time to kiss the earth with our feet and heal our mother." - Thich Nhat Hanh, *Happiness*, pg. 14, paragraph 4.
Despite the foul weather, I'm compelled to embark on a long walk, so I’ll break ou the merino wool, warm gloves, hat and my walking pants and walk with her!! It's my gesture of gratitude towards the Earth for all the nourishment and healing it provides me. So, I'll brave the elements and let each step be a kiss of gratitude to our nurturing mother. Peace!
